about

This is a three-part piece. The instrumental first section is a brief tribute to Tony Banks’ opening keyboard introduction to ‘Watcher of the Skies’. It segues into ‘AngelKonzert’ ("Angels' Concert"), an instrumental arrangement of the final, 'Alleluia' section of the 1934 symphonic suite Paul Hindemith derived from his opera “Mathis der Maler”. That, in turn, segues into another original composition and a personal reflection on the influence music has had on my life.

The bridge between ‘Engelkonzert’ and ‘Terpsichore’ was cleverly constructed by my colleague, Ron Rutherford.

'Regina Celestis' and 'Terpsichore' are ©Copyright 2016 by Peter Tutak. 'Angelkonzert' is an adaptation of the final section of 'Symphony Mathis der Maler' by Paul Hindemith, 1934, published by Schott Publishing, Mainz, Germany.

lyrics

I am sun in your shadow
I am shade in the harshest light
I am wind underneath your sail
I am courage that never fails
I am music. Do you hear me ?

I am faith and devotion
I am balm to your hue and cry
I am harbor when tempest tossed
I am vision when all is lost
I am music. Do you hear me ?

I am shore to your ocean
I am star to your lonely sky
I am flesh in your darkest dream
I am forest and forest stream.
I am music. Do you hear me ?
